The Hotel Maria

Our stay was fabulous! Our suite was great. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The staff hospitality is beyond 5 star. The cafe is also great, especially the bar. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will return some day! Thank you all!

Our stay was the first weekend away to relax in too long. We both have been working 50 - 60 hours a week to pay for my daughter’s private college education. So a good friend surprised us with a wknd here to relax and enjoy some quiet. The hotel and the room were immaculate! The Italian touch was felt including the love put into this hotel. The smell around the hotel was a light cologne type of fragrance, I just cannot place it, but seemed amazing. My Italian family I grew up with have all mostly passed on but my mother and grandmother would have loved this place. I couldn’t help but keep thinking of them. They have a woman on the beach from the 50 or 60s on all the walls and she looks like my mom.. The complimentary items were actually decent and better than free breakfast some offer. Sodas, coffee, milk, chocolate milk, sparkling water, etc.. The shower was simple yet perfect especially with the goat milk soap and lotion. I make that myself and love goats milk products so I was impressed! The only small request would be that the bed be on the other side of the room so you can lay in bed and watch the water. The couch pulls out as a bed which was actually comfy for a couch pull out. So if you have kids no worries! I saw rooms that open to each other if you prefer two rooms. The first night I got a text to order room service for dinner. We went to utilize that on Saturday but the app said no menu available so we ordered from Gino’s next door. The attire for the hotel restaurant wasn’t casual and we didn’t have proper attire to dine there. So I didn’t try the food this time. An idea for a new business there could be a beautifully run coffee shop next door with little pastries, cookies and danishes. Maybe sell wraps for lunch then close early. Have some outside seating and view the ocean. Virginia Beach has some good spots like that and I could see it doing well here too. Thank you for all your efforts as it’s definitely noticed and appreciated. I haven’t slept that much in years!!

Everything from the view to the food to the entire staff was first class! Would stay again and recommend highly. Had dinner and breakfast at hotel restaurant, food was amazing. Saturday night restaurant was filled with locals, which is a testament to the quality of the food. Nice low key laid back a**osphere.

The quality of this hotel is unparalleled. Every detail from the perfectly appointed rooms & suites to the public spaces are maintained meticulously and include nothing but the highest quality "everything"! The entire team in both the hotel & restaurant treat their guests like family.

The Hotel Maria stands out from others on the same street because it is obviously well maintained and not tired looking as so many others look following the summer season. The staff from the moment you walk in, are friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable--to me, this is always a reflection of the management--they are obviously doing something right. It provides mini high-end toiletries, which seems like a luxury today when many of the big name hotel brands have gone by way of the large in shower shampoos and conditioners (yes, sustainable, but still a yuck factor for me). The hotel also has a pantry full of snacks for every palette. The hotel is right across from the ocean--their own beach; have beach chairs and towels on hand for your convenience. It's so convenient to explore other known areas like Watch Hill and Mystic.

My sister and I had our third stay at the Hotel Maria this past September and thoroughly enjoyed it! We like to go in the off-season when things are quieter and slower paced. The staff are very attentive and helpful. They always respond to every question or request. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. There are handouts available listing area restaurants and rainy day activities. The hotel is directly across from a beautiful beach with spectacular views. Hotel beach chairs were available to use which was a big plus. We also enjoyed taking our morning walks looking at the ocean. The hotel is close to Watch Hill which is a nice place to visit for shopping and dining. On Friday afternoon we were offered complimentary snacks (chocolates, etc) delivered to our room-it was a treat and a personal touch! One evening we ate at Maria's the Seaside Cafe, and our meals were delicious with a varied menu available. Thanks again for a wonderful stay! We have reservations already made for next year!

This first-rate experience started as soon as I booked the room. The staff was polite and helpful. Upon arrival, we were greeted by valet parking, and an enthusiastic welcome. Once in the lobby complimentary champagne and a very polite girl Isabella. Next, up to our room where we had a gorgeous ocean view, a private balcony, which would be our morning coffee spot. The room was very clean, and I am picky on that score. The bed was very comfortable, room service available was prompt. House keeping would stop by everyday before dinner to see if we needed another room tidy, and offered free candy. Nice touch! Did I mention the free pantry in the lobby? Yes, free Coffee, Tea, and all sorts of snacks from early morning until late night. The hotel restaurant is fabulous! From breakfast to gourmet dinners it was incredible. Both my husband and I are very good cooks, and very Italian so we appreciate high quality meals. I wish there was a Hotel Maria available for all of our travel destinations. Will definitely be back. I highly recommend.

We stayed in a Café Queen room. The room size was sufficient and very clean. The bathroom is very small, with a tiny shower and not much room for personal items. There was plenty of drawer and closet space. The "Cafe" side is not really connected to the rooms with the large patios and ocean views, but still was nice. The check in and out process was simple, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We ate a delicious breakfast at the restaurant on site. The beach is located directly across the street, and there was plenty of room. We had a very nice stay and would certainly suggest the Hotel Maria to others.

The Hotel Maria is a very nice hotel situated across the street from Misquamicut beach. The lobby is interesting, in that there is no front desk. The very small, compact lobby area has a few places for patrons to sit, along with a courtesy snack area and a supply of courtesy beach chairs. The lobby attendant just kind of hangs out, and conducts all necessary business on his iPad. Our check-in was sans problems, although it was not explained to us that there was complimentary snacks, beverages and beach chairs. Our room was very clean, albeit kind of small. Beds were comfortable. And to be clear, the balcony overlooks the street, not the beach, so any view is up and over the sand dunes. And you can forget about hearing any ocean waves. The hotel has a (sort of) private beach which is right across the street. I don’t believe the hotel owns the beach, but has exclusive use of it. The sea**** was a real issue that I thought could not be helped until we took a walk down to the public state beach, and further to the town beach, where the beaches was free of sea****. So I will assume that all the rotting sea**** on our beach can at some degree be removed. The hotel is ideally located, and an easy walk to a couple restaurants. The hotel itself has a lovely restaurant where we did eat several times. A minor point - in the hotel room, the curtains over the air conditioner are a little too long so that they partially block the air conditioner output, consequently soaking the window and the floor behind and below the unit. And when I had a little trouble figuring out the thermostat, a really sweet, extremely busy housekeeping lady was happy to help. Overall I was happy with the hotel and the experience, but honestly I’m not sure it’s worth $600 a night.
