Our family of four stayed at the Hotel Maria for 2 nights during the busy August season. Upon arrival, parking was very convenient. We had the option of valet, but opted to self-park. We arrived very early and were greeted by a friendly staff member. Our room was understandably not ready, but they gave us beach passes so we were able to enjoy a day in the sun and waves on the Fire District Beach across the street. A short time later, and well before 4pm, I received a text that our room was ready. We had an Oceanview King with Queen sleeper sofa on the 2nd floor, which featured a balcony facing the lively street and ocean. It was a clear day and we could just make out Block Island in the distance. The room was impeccably clean, quiet, and comfortable. It's Misquamicut so you don't spend much time in the room, but in the event of a rainy afternoon, the covered balcony provides some dry shelter for playing cards and still enjoying the view. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the TVs to smart TVs with Netflix/Prime, in case of inclement weather. We did have one day that was a washout so we went to Foxwoods, about a 25 minute drive away. We dined at the Sea Side Cafe downstairs once for breakfast and once for dinner. The breakfast menu offered your usual eggs & pancakes. We'd have loved the option of French Toast or Belgian Waffles, but the food was fresh and delicious. My daughter said the orange juice was the best she ever had. I wish we had dined there for dinner both nights, as the pasta was amazing. The biggest problem was deciding what to order, as everything looked amazing. My fussy son ordered chicken fingers & fries from the kids menu, and ate almost all of it. My daughter and husband both ordered vodka rigatoni with grilled chicken and I had the ravioli. The pastas were perfectly al dente and the sauces were absolutely delicious. The wine selection was lovely and the cocktails were expertly crafted. In the evening, my kids enjoyed playing with the Etch-a-Sketches and were excited to pick snacks from the complimentary well-stocked pantry. What a nice touch, not being charged for water, chips, granola bars, PopTarts, and seltzer! When it was time to wind down, the beds were comfy, with ample pillows and blankets. Also worth mentioning - the family vibe was so welcoming and the historical pictures in the lobby were interesting. The Hotel Maria delivered a comfortable, luxury experience without feeling the least bit pretentious. I would definitely recommend
