Esperanza inn is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed at. Tyler is an amazing host and was so kind and generous. He recommended us to the best restaurants and beaches. It is close to plenty of good beaches and restaurants. The room is spacious and has everything one can need. We will definitely come back here and also recommend Esperanza inn to family and friends.

This hotel was excellent! We got the 1 bedroom suite with a kitchen, and it exceeded expectations. They provided us with 4 sets of bath towels and washcloths. We also had access to boogie boards for the beaches, and a beach bag with a cooler stocked with beach towels. We had a huge balcony and the hot water in the shower worked great. The owners were so kind, and they graciously gave us a map of Esperanza, highlighting the best beaches and restaurants. Tyler, one of the owners, fed the cats daily, which I would definitely recommend watching! Overall, it was a great stay, and the owners were incredibly kind!

The best!! Our one bedroom with kitchen had plenty of space and was a great place for us to stay in Esperanza. But what really makes the place special is all the little touches that Suzann and Tyler do to make the place feel like home away from home - beach towels, a cooler bag, communal coffee in the morning, great advice on where to go and what to do on the island, and more. Rooms are simple (not fancy) but absolutely comfortable. This was a perfect 5 star plus for us!!

If there were a 5+ star rating on Trip Advisor, the Esperanza Inn would be my first choice for that honor. Suzanne & Ty have created a comfortable refuge that perfectly fits the Veiques vibe. They took over this little inn a couple of years ago and have added touches that make it welcoming, comforytable and fun (in a low-key kind of way). Our room was comfortable, clean and well appointed -- not fancy but it had everything we needed with a few thoughtful touches added (eg a soft cooler & very nice beach towels). But the entire place and the atmosphere are what really stand out. A cozy little tropical backyard with a "dipping pool"; a full kitchen (w good coffee) and comfortable indoor public area; and most of all: Ty, Suzanne and Pebble the friendly Yorkie. They were soooo generous with advice and information (but not pushy at all). The location may be the best on the island, on a quiet street right around the corner from the tiny Ezperanza ***** (half a dozen restaurants, a couple of stores, a couple of bars, all the kayak/snorkel rental/tour kiosks, and a promenade overlooking the idyllic bay). Plus the room fee was extremely reasonable. This is a REALLY special place. Come to think of it: I give 'em 5 stars plus PLUS!

My husband and I just returned from Vieques last night after a wonderful 4-night anniversary stay at the Esperanza Inn. From initial booking to the day we arrived to the day we left, we felt like family. Suzann, Tyler, and Pebble (their sweet pup) provided a friendly and warm environment that was unobtrusive yet felt familiar, like visiting family members you enjoy spending time with. We stayed in The Palms, and loved it! We had everything we needed and ample space to relax and watch TV if we wanted, but we never turned it on. After every day, we truly looked forward to returning to our “home” and relaxing with a glass of wine before bed. They’ve thought of everything – our room was stocked with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, coffee/creamer, and mugs, along with sand towels and a cooler for the day. Downstairs in the shared kitchen, we could use the full space if we wanted to cook, though we preferred to eat out every day. I DID, however, enjoy the coffee my husband poured for me from the shared kitchen every morning so it saved us time from me making my own since I’d been sleeping in every day. Both Suzann and Tyler were excellent at advising us on areas of the island to visit based on our likes. We like to hike, so they recommended Mt. Pirata which is the highest point on Vieques at almost 1,000 feet. It recently opened to the public, so we HAD to hike that. It was steep but paved the entire way, and the observation deck at the top allowed us a beautiful view out to the mainland of Puerto Rico and other islands, with a couple of benches for resting under a mango tree. Esperanza Inn is nicely located less than a block off of the Malecon, making it super easy to leave your vehicle and walk to several restaurants, bars, and a beach. It’s also only about a 5-minute walk to where the bioluminescent tours depart! Be sure to check out the sunset from the top of El Blok which is at the opposite end of the Malecon, but still only about 5 minutes to walk there. We did use our rented vehicle every day though as we ventured around the island to see several beaches, the rum distillery, the Arepas Festival in Isabela, the 400-year-old Ceiba tree, Mosquito Pier, the bunkers, and other sites. I highly recommend renting a 4-wheel drive. We rented an SUV, but it was a Kia Soul and really wasn’t conducive to the type of terrain on Vieques. When we travel there again, we will rent a Jeep or Bronco for a nicer ride to the beaches off the beaten path and to the Sugar Mill Ruins and the archeological site. We will absolutely stay at Esperanza Inn again and look forward to seeing Suzann, Tyler, and Pebble whom we all thank for helping us create such a nice anniversary trip!

Our family of five spent the week between Christmas and New Years at the Esperanza Inn and had a wonderful time. The location is great, close to the restaurants and shops but back enough to be quiet. Tyler and Suzanne are wonderful hosts. The place is beautiful and all of the little extras are thought of. We highly recommend the Esperanza Inn.

I had no idea what to expect, but my expectations were -WAY- more than exceeded! We were making plans to return to Vieques, to Esperanza Inn while we were still sitting on the beach on our last day. For a random internet pick, this spot was the perfect blend of just enough modern amenities to feel comfy, without sterilizing that tiny island feel. Casual, relaxed, comfortable Each of the three days before check-in, the owners were personally emailing/texting with me about our travel arrangements, making sure all our plans were going to work out. I was fairly confident all was in order, but all the extra care & concern was a very nice touch. Suzann & Tyler have SO many good suggestions and tips! Speaking of Tyler... get that man a microphone. At check-in, we not only got the usual topics covered in depth, but also: a history/cultural lesson about Vieques and Esperanza, an in-depth cartographical survey of the island (he let us keep the map of Vieques after he marked all the best beaches and points of interest), a weather report and suggestions about what we might want to do if it's rainy, several restaurant and tour-guide recommendations (go to Choli's!), a brief tour of the grounds including biology/botany trivia (what's a ylang-ylang tree??), an introduction to the local feline crew (with a not so sublte invitation to adopt a kitten or three), a bit of background on how they came to be owners/hosts in Puerto Rico (#goals), a lot of humor (on his part), and some pretty solid relationship advice. Check-in might have been our favorite part of Esperanza Inn. It was very easy to find, just a short (and fun) drive from the ferry terminal. Esperanza is the cutest and quietest little sea-side town, frozen in another time and place. We felt very safe the entire time. Tyler made sure to mention where all the gates were, who had keys to what, and when him and his staff would be available/on-premise. We had a super spacious apartment (especially considering the rate) with an enormous deck/balcony that was a great hang spot with the other two (very-fun) couples also staying that week. Cool AC in the rooms. Hot coffee and cute cats to cuddle with downstairs every morning. A one-minute walk around the corner to the (confusingly well-stocked) convenience mart. A two-minute walk to "La Playa Secreta" which Tyler expertly advised us to check out quickly after we set our stuff down in the room (BIG thanks Tyler - those sunset beach pics are *everything*). A two-minute walk to any Esperanza night life. We had a blast and will absolutely be returning. The only hesitation I have writing this review is my fear this place will get too popular. We did not want a resort or packed hotel (El Bloc), nor did we want to be sweating at night on an uncomfortable mattress, in what would be referred to in any other country as a hostel. The Esperanza Inn, Suzann & Tyler have neatly side-stepped that trade-off and nailed the perfect balance of modern comforts, easy island

Perfect slice of Paradise!! Starting from the ease of booking, communication was excellent, the personal attention to detail, ease and conveniently close to restaurants! The hosts, Suzann and Tyler knew we were arriving early to Vieques and made sure all of our needs were met. They offered to store our luggage for a 3pm check in. We booked the "Love Shack" it's almost like a cute tiny home.As we were getting off the ferry, Suzann who was traveling out of town, called to let us know she put a rush to housekeeping to make our room ready earlier. Then called right back to say it was ready! The room was very clean and tidy. According to Tyler, Suzann prides herself in offering quality toiletries...and they were, in the room there was a small cooler with towels we could take to the beach, the common area included a fully stocked kitchen, the fridge housed items for all guests to use on the top shelf, dining room, lounging room with games. There is a pool but we didn’t have time to use it. Tyler and his yorkie, Pebbles greeted us at the door. Tyler is extremely friendly and helpful! He went out of his way to highlight things to see, restaurants to try and the beware of the wild horses as they may be walking in the street. Best is the fact that they are a part of an organization Hooves on the Ground which ensures horses have access to water. And as we walked out the front door to explore there were four friendly wild horses drinking from their trough! Everything was clean, safe and friendly. The keep the gate closed policy is to keep the horses from coming to the backyard as they would eat up there beautiful landscaping and plants! Well worth the experience! I wish we could have stayed longer but we had other commitments.

My brother and I spent 2 nights (July 8 and 9, 2023) in Esperanza Inn, Vieques, PR, and enjoyed our stay very much! Our room, the Palms, was a large open room with a California king bed, a queen bed, a sofa, and all amenities for a comfortable stay. The room was artistically decorated with local art pieces and everything was conveniently arranged and was super clean. The AC was cool and shower water was hot. Just perfect! The Esperanza Inn is on the southern coast of Vieques Island, one short block from the Malecón, the stone wall that embanks the waterfront. Within walking distance are restaurants, bars, and shops for water sport equipment, bikes, golfcarts rentals. The pickup locations of the Bioluminescent Bay tours are only 5 min walk. However, what impressed us the most was the hospitality Suzzane and Tyler offered to their guests. When we booked our room in May, we had many questions, the ferry, the taxi, the phone service, the internet, the check-in time. Suzzane emailed us and let us know she would guide us step-by-step to our room. And she did. We were supposed to arrive in San Juan in July 7, get a rental car, drive Ceiba Ferry Terminal, take the 4 pm ferry, get in a taxi to the Inn, and get our keys to the room. However, due to post-July 4th traffic jam, we did not land in San Juan until the afternoon of July 8, and had to take the 8 pm ferry. We received multiple text message exchanges with Suzzane and got very detailed instructions on how to check ourselves in late at night. The instructions were in such great detail that we had no problem following them and moving into our room without glitches. Suzzane even told us which restaurants were still open and the beach party at night. We were vey grateful! During our stay on Vieques Island, Tyler also gave us detailed guidance on where to go with our rental bikes. Because the Palms room did not have new guests on the first half of July 10, Tyler offered us to use the room for free so that we could shower after our morning bike tour before heading back to San Juan. We have visited many countries and regions. Suzzane and Tyler are the best hosts we ever had.
