Hotel Astor

Very nice hotel near to centraal Vaasa. Old history vibes. Clean, friendly staff and super good breakfast! It was my first time here and gonna come back for the next trip to Vaasa. Great for couples or solo trip. Rooms where quiet and bed was comfty.

I had a very short stay here, checked in around 17.00 and then checked out at around 03.00 for a very early flight. I booked this hotel because of the old world charm. On arrival I couldn't tell if the hotel was meant to look like this or hadn't been decorated in a very long time. Either way it needs some TLC and decorating, the reception area was like stepping back in time, as was the bedroom, although it was comfortable but very old fashioned. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I had a nice stay, its a nice place. Its just so very different from anywhere else these days. But I would rather have this than the bland offerings available at a lot of hotels these days.

Great local hotel with own style. Service is very polite. Hotel has own bar and restaurant. Rooms are clean, spacious, beds are good, you will sleep well. Some regular rooms have own sauna. Breakfast is superb. Location is very central. Highly recommended!

Lovely small hotel. Reminds me small town family owned italian hotels, rustic, bit kitchy, gold here and there, definitely not the normal scandinavian clear-cut style, but still tidy, clean and everything works. Veryvery near the train station. Breakfast was way better than the usual Scandic chain hotel breakfast, much more to choose from (more value for money). I happened to have a room with own tiny sauna and even not that tiny jacuzzi. Service was friendly. Will definitely pick Astor instead of Scandic if ever again in Vasa.

Great location right opposite the railway station and city center around the corner. Such a cute room with a massive bed and a clean bathroom. My friend had a bigger room with its own sauna and that was lovely! Breakfast room is beautifully decorated with old furniture and fresh flowers on each table. I found everything I love for breakfast! Great variety! Also had lunch, the crab toast was huge and delicious! Only negative things were that my room in 4th floor was quite chilly in the night. The radiator was warm and working, as was the hot air pump installed on the wall. Yet it was cold and the floors were cold, too. Shower had very poor water pressure which I find annoying. However my friend’s room in 2ng floor had good pressure. Staff was friendly and attentive. Someone recommended this hotel to me and I am happy to recommend this, too!

I stayed at this hotel while attending a wedding in town. The hotel is wonderfully situated across the street from the train station. The hotel is older but retains the quaint features that makes it a lovely place to stay. My room was very comfortable though the safe did not work (even after a technician serviced it). However, this was the only drawback in an otherwise excellent stay. The breakfast was a wonderful, traditional spread. If I travel to Vaasa again, this is first choice of where to stay.

This review concerns the room in the annex, a separate building with its own entrance, see photo. The rooms in the main building may be a wholly different experience. We chose this room because it has cooking possibilities (a small stove, a microwave, a fridge, dishes and cutlery). It also happens to be the only room that allows pets, although we did not have one. The room was of adequate size and there was enough cupboard and shelf space. For some reason, the safe was high up on top of the cupboard! Unfortunately we did not sleep well, as the beds were not very comfortable and the room was warm and stuffy, without proper AC. Internet quality was poor, at least during our stay. Is the router too far away, in the main building? The room is on the ground floor and faces a gray inner courtyard and parking place, so not much charm there. Nonetheless it was fairly quiet. We found the staff friendly. The variety of foods at breakfast was quite exceptional. One tip, though: could you keep the ham/sausage and the cheeses in separate dishes, with separate forks? The hotel is a handsome, historical building conveniently located across the road to the calm railway station area. It is a short walking distance from the city center.

Hotel Astor is different than chain hotels, in a positive way. It is an old charming building located in the city center close to the railway station. Everything is okay, the staff is friendly, breakfast is good. Rooms are clean and unique but a little bit outdated. Good experience overall!

This is an old hotel with a quirky interior and kind of old character. I think it's great that they haven't tried to modernize but instead stayed true to the original design. Everything is in good shape, the bed was great, and everything was clean. Spent the evening in the bar. Their scrimp sandwich is epic. The breakfast was amazing. One of the best I've seen. What really made our stay was the really nice staff. Everyone was really friendly and attentive. Great job!
