The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore

After stay one night on the 22rd, I upgraded my room to the deluxe Marina Bay View king-size bed room on the 23rd. This is what I saw when I returned to the room around 22 o'clock in the evening (see photo). It's not a room without a view, it's almost a room without a window! I called the front desk to change the room, the answer was that the upgrade price could be refunded. I said I don't want to refund the money, the purpose of adding money was to see the scenery. The answer was that there were no rooms available, helpless to accept! After lying down, I found that the noise in the room was loud and continuous like a motor. I called someone to look at it but was told that there was no way to solve it and I had to change rooms. After a while, a female administrator came to help me looking for a room with my luggage. We moved first to the room the next door to my 13XX. Unfortunately, that room was also loud. I had to change again on the same floor and with the same orientation. The room seemed quite quiet, I planned to stay. During the ten minutes when the administrator went downstairs to pick up the keys for me, there was loud noise in the room every few minutes to hear. When the administrator came, she couldn't explain it and had to change the room again. Finally I moved to the 21st floor, the bathroom was noisy, but I could close the bathroom door to make the bedroom quieter. I didn't want to change any room again, because it was already 1:30 in the middle of the night, and I was really tired. The window was covered with fog, and the hotel explained that it was raining. Around 11:00 in the morning, all the fog on the windows dissipated. I took a video of the windowsill, and it is not difficult to see that the fog is caused by the failure of the double-glazed seal. But for whatever reason, the room that was supposed to have a view was actually a windowless room. Regarding the noise, the hotel's explanation is the noise of cars passing by on the road outside. Even though the floor is so high, the noise from the road can be heard clearly in the room, which is incredible! the hotel hardware quality is not as good as a 3-star hotel, and their service is a real disaster! The most irritating thing is that there are so many vacancies in the hotel, but the receptionist sill had no ideal to cater to customer demands. This approach is really unacceptable! Because I booked the room through Ctrip, so I have to go to Ctrip to complain. As a result, the weirdo hotel replied that next time I go to their hotel and they will give me a good room, Is it shameless to invincible? So I asked for a refund of the house payment on the 23rd, and it turned out that Ctrip compensated me for half of the house price on the 23rd. I am really sorry and disappointed with Ctrip!

I was quite disappointed with the stay at Ritz Carlton. The room and the furniture in the room are quite jaded and you can see very obvious signs of wear and tear in the room. What I was very surprised about was that the toothpaste provided in the dental kit was EXPIRED! And there was a small cockroach in the room. Not quite what I expected from a top notch hotel. Cleanliness not so well maintained. I called up to ask for 4 packets of English Breakfast tea and 4 bottled water but was given 4 TOWELS and 6 BOTTLED water. . Operator could have taken my request more seriously than giving the wrong thing. Generally breakfast was ok, no wow factor. Personally I feel that for the price I paid, it is really not worth. Disappointed !!!

My expectations for the Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore were rather high. Review after review made sure before my stay that it would be nothing short of amazing, and at least, a guaranteed comfortable stay. Indeed the impressions from the beginning of my stay were great. The entrance to the hotel were grand. Concierge at the entrance were very warm and pleasant, and attentive staff made sure the check-in process was smooth and straightforward. However, everything after that was when the stay started to go downhill. I entered an extremely warm and stuffy room but I assumed might have just been because the air condition was just been switched on. But two hours into my stay, the temperature never changed. It would continue to persist throughout the evening. The walk-in wardrobe was useful, but exposed air vents made the whole closet dusty, which when you move things in and out, would travel across the rest of the room. Many furnitures in the room were worn and terribly aged — the tables and toilet bowl had stains on them, while the toilet has black mold growing around the corners of many fixtures. The worst impression started at midnight, when a cable switch malfunctioned. I heard a loud spark sound coming from the bedside table, and the TV notified that “the wired lan disconnected”. The TV connection and phones in the room were down, and would restart itself only to disconnect again. At this point, the warm AC made it incredibly hard to have a good night’s rest, let alone enjoy my stay. I had to call for help using my own mobile phone, and explained the situation to the operator. She sent a technician to fix the issue, but after inspecting, he insisted that there was nothing he could do. I then called the hotel again, asking for a room change as it was rather annoying to have someone fix things in the wee hours. This process would prolong for an unnecessary long time — I had to repeat the situation to multiple people despite being very detailed to the front desk and operator. Still, they kept insisting to bring someone in to fix the issue. Eventually, a new room was arranged. At roughly 1:20AM, I waited at the lift lobby for someone to bring me to my new room. The warm AC issue — which the operator mentioned previously might “be the same in all other rooms” — was definitely apparent to just that room. The AC was working well and the new room was not dusty nor stuffy and much cleaner. What I failed to understand was the lack of quality control in an award-winning property. Why did all this have to happen in the first place? Why did I have to repeat the issue, much less from my own phone, to so many people when it could have been immediately resolved. This is not something I would want to handle so late at night. The worst part, despite all of the inconvenience, there were no apologies or empathy from any staff, and that the hours lost to resolve this issue was never compensated with even a slightly later check-out. As one of Singapore’s shining hotels you’d expect a better crisis management. This was my first and definitely last stay at this hotel.

Great location with views of Marina lagoon. Many malls and shopping centers in the range of 1Km. The breakfasts offered by the hotel is fantastic and the settings of the dinning hall. The online Grab taxi App is recommended to make the visiting much easier.

The hotel is excellent, the service attitude is very good, and travel is also convenient

Everything is good. A bit disappointed at the on duty receiptionist when we checked in. She failed to arrange a room details which i early requested

I was celebrating my husband’s birthday at Ritz Carlton. We were amazed with the service and room assigned. The club lounge has excellent service, would specifically love to compliment, Firdaus and Moira. Both of them had made our stay an extraordinary experience. We will love to be back for more celebrations. High recommending hotel to enjoy excellent service and view!

Their foods are great. Tasty and nice present. Staff are polite, friendly and welcoming. However, they really needs to have a good maintenance for the room and equipment.(see the pics below) Housekeeping wasn’t doing their jobs properly. Found the tea cup wasn’t clean on the first day. The bedding wasn’t done on the second day while we returned at night. Really disappointed for that. Also, the facilities wan’t familiar for the kids. We don’t think we’ll return to this hotel for the next trip.

Cons: Room looks a bit old, hdmi not working, air con control is not user-friendly ( not sure if we can adjust or not) Pros: all things are up to standard, location good, room is roomy, staff friendly, great view, always can get many water bottles Dinner at Colony: expensive but excellent, a lot of choices and all hot dishes are great
