Since opening in September 2018- The Machrie has become a popular destination to enjoy friendly- attentive service- breath-taking views- fabulous links golf- exquisite food and luxurious accommodation. Guests can choose from a total of 47 bedrooms- suites and lodges. PureGray is a small sanctuary that provides a wide range of mind and body treatments for your wellbeing. We have a fabulous collection of local and international whiskies as well as our Perfect Serve Gins. We can arrange whisky tastings at the hotel.
Flexible conference and meeting space for up to 120 delegates. We offer conference and event planners a wealth of flexible options to plan the ideal day or residential event. Take advantage of our teams local knowledge in arranging a wide range of team building and group activities such as clay target shooting- fishing- a kayak trip around Islays coastline- a fat bike tour on the beach or visit one of the islands 9 whisky distilleries.
Set in the dunes of Islay- Queen of the Hebrides- the course has now been fully modernised by D J Russell- the former European Ryder Cup Vice Captain and PGA tour player.
There is a reason why the Scots invented golf on links land- Machrie land- and the links turf on which the course sits is among the finest in Scotland. The dramatic setting of Laggan Bay and the sand dunes has few equals- and with the ever changing nature of the challenge offered by this acclaimed layout. In addition to The Machrie Links there is also wonderful additional golf facilities- The Wee Course is a six-hole par 3 course where there are a multitude of options of which holes to play. I dropped in for a beverage while dropping off clients who were staying here during their whisky tour. The interior, views and landscape where extremely relaxing. I loved my hot chocolate served in an indulgently oversized and ornate teacup

We had an excellent stay here, the staff were so friendly and approachable with fantastic knowledge of lesser known places to go and explore on Islay. The staff were also so helpful in choosing whisky for us that suited our tastes and recommending good distillery visits as well as new whisky to try from their extensive list. Breakfasts and our evening meal here were fantastic, the wait staff are all so good and easy to joke with! The only drawback to our trip were a few issues with the cleanliness of our rooms and the location isn't fantastic if you've not got a car or hire vehicle and are having to rely on taxi services which are high in demand.

The Machrie was an incredible stay. The view was gorgeous, and the breakfast was delicious, but the best part was the customer service. I have to give a shout-out to two of the favorite people my brother and I met during our trip to Islay. Paul and also Paul. Both Paul's were incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. One of the Paul's I know was a temporary worker and headed back to Glasgow before too long, but I would encourage the Machrie management to do whatever they could to bring him back permanently if possible. I have never met two more friendly, helpful, and smiling employees and somehow, they are both named Paul and work at the Machrie. Again, the customer service, in general, was very good, the room and beds were comfortable and cozy, the view was beautiful, and the food excellent, but it was really the Paul's that absolutely elevated our stay to the next level. Do whatever you can to keep and promote them Machrie because they made the Machrie both my brothers and I's favorite hotel!

A return visit to the Machrie! Very enjoyable indeed. Weather was exceptional and views & golf course as amazing as ever. Special mention must go to Marilyn - great in the restaurant and exceptionally helpful & pleasant on reception. A lovely end to a great trip to Islay.

Just returned from 3 night golf break at The Machrie, I had been over on a number of occasions with my wife but after years of me praising the course & hotel some of my fellow golfers decided to make the trip, I was a little apprehensive due to recent change of ownership no need The Machrie didn’t disappoint. Firstly I must thank Ian who could not have been more understanding when one of the guys had to drop out at the last minute due for health issues 👍. Last year I had a few issues with service in restaurant & bar all has been resolved staff were excellent, couple of guys we need to mention Joe & Conor very helpful, sorted out issue when local mini bus company didn’t show 👏. Rooms and bedding excellent well maintained good house keeping. Couple of the guys disappointed that 4 greens off but these were newly laid last year and had not bedded in temp greens smaller but good, also practice area was out of action prior notice would have been nice. The course played first class as it had on my previous visits, my fellow golfers had nothing but praise for it and are looking forward to a return visit fortunately mine is already booked. I was disappointed that the golf pro David & his son Dale had left they added that little bit extra to the experience, wishing them and Janette all the best.

Lovely accommodation, excellent staff , great golf - but! The Machrie has been on our must visit for a while. The 4 of us stayed in a lodge which was excellent. Very well equipped, nicely furnished and lovely bid comfy beds. Staff were very friendly and pleasant. Excellent breakfast. The golf did not disappoint. Superb old style links with lots of variety and wonderful views. Now the not so good. There were 3 temporary greens and we weren't told beforehand. Still loved the course but having been in the golf industry for nearly 50 years that is a no no. Evening meals were a disappointment. They promised much but didn't deliver. Chewy lobster. Tough steak etc. Didn't have the desert wine we ordered and no alternative! We would still return but would eat out if dinner doesn't improve.

Beautiful hotel on a beautiful island. Rooms are great and the staff are so welcoming. We loved our stay here! You don’t need to be a golfer to enjoy this place. The views are stunning and it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the Islay lifestyle
