Hjerting Badehotel

This is an overly expensive hotel but it did not live up to our expectations. The first room we were given was dark and dingy overlooking the car park. The rooms are accessed by a very narrow dark corridor. I understand it is an old building but when you have to climb over laundry trolleys it is not acceptable. I asked for a change of room and we were charged an extra £80 for what turned out to be a very poorly decorated/finished room also overlooking the car park. We had no privacy at all, the air conditioning was a portable unit which was noisy but better than nothing. In our opinion the refurbishment of this hotel was completed by amateur trades people. The finishings were very poor and the furniture and fittings were average to poor quality with the cheapest possible fridge, hairdryer and kettle. This was our fourth hotel in the Esbjerg area during our week long visit and it was definitely the most expensive but also the most disappointing. There is no staff who help with luggage or at least there was no offer from anyone to help very elderly guests who had difficulty walking never mind hauling their luggage. The breakfast buffet was slightly better than average but the breakfast staff had to be told to clear the tables which made the experience very awkward for them and for us. I would not recommend this hotel which is a pity as it is ideally placed and has two pretty good restaurants. The bar staff were extremely accommodating when I asked for an ice bucket. The receptionist on being told that the room we were allocated was not suitable and that I was shocked at how poor/dull and dark it was, as previously described she clearly wasn't interested and stated that no one else had every complained about the room!!! Clearly she was not prepared to acknowledge that someone in the car park looking into your room which meant you had to draw the curtains (of a room that was extremely dark anyway) to get any privacy was acceptable and that I was the only guest who had complained - not a good start. I have to say that it is obvious that this hotel has very good reviews and that most guests have not had the same experience as my husband and I had and to that end I have to accept that I must be very a very discerning guest who doesn't like being ripped off for what is in my opinion a very poor experience. I would like to add that we have travelled all over the world and stayed in numerous hotels and as such are very experienced travellers.

We spent three nights in a "suite". The hotel has a nice view of the ocean. However, a rather loud and frequented street is between the hotel and the ocean. What they call "suite", I would call a normal sized room with a separating wall. We paid 400 Euros per night. That is in my opinion overpriced (we spent five nights before in the 5-star-hotel Alte Meierei in Glücksburg - no comparison in terms of value for money.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and I find the service forthcoming and good. The location is fantastic - and the rooms are of a good size and clean. from a work perspective the rooms do not have a good working area - but then again it is not a business hotel as such (at least not from my perspective)h

Cosi hotel vlak aan de kust met een klein strand voor deur. Perfect werkende WiFi. Goede bedden, ietwat oudere looks. Uitgebreid ontbijt, met voor elk wat wils. Afwisselend is er iets anders elke dag. Ze hebben ook huisjes naast het hotel.

Wir hatten im Hjerting Badehotel die "Miniferien" mit 4 Übernachtungen (Zimmer Landseite) incl. Halbpension gebucht. Bereits beim Betreten fällt die bestens gepflegte Inneneinrichtung und das entsprechende Ambiente auf. Nach einem freundlichen Empfang war unser Zimmer (Erdgeschoss Landseite) zwar schön, es fehlte jedoch eine gewisser einheitlicher Stil, Bett und Umrandung waren bereits im Bäderstil, Schreibtisch und Minibarkühlschrank sowie die Decke aus "vergangenen Zeiten" hier könnte man sicherlich mehr draus machen, daher hat das Zimmer auch nur ein "Befriedigend" erhalten. Das Hotel liegt in ruhiger Lage, direkt am Strand, Verkehr ist in den Abend-/Nachtstunden im Prinzip nicht vorhanden. Wie schon eingangs erwähnt sind die öffentlichen Bereiche des Hotels sehr ansprechend gestaltet, ein wirkliches Highlight ist das Restaurant mit seiner Fensterfront zur See mit Abendsonne. Auf jedem Tisch standen an allen Tagen frische Blumen, was neben der Dekoration im Restaurant und der eingedeckten Tische ein sehr schönes Bild ergeben hat. Das Frühstück ist standarisiert mit sehr guter Auswahl und Qualität, es erfolgt jedoch -zumindest während unserem Besuch- aber auch keine Variation, z.B. Pfannkuchen, oder verschiedenes Gebäck etc. Das Abendessen war die gesamten Tage hervorragend, im laufe der Miniferien hatten wir verschiedene Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte (Fisch, Hähnchen, Braten etc.) welche sowohl optisch als auch geschmacklich ausgezeichnet waren. (Interessant ist vielleicht noch der Hinweis, dass es für unser Angebot je eine feste Vorspeise / Hauptspeise gegeben hat, für uns war das in Ordnung, da alle Gerichte unseren Essensgewohnheiten entsprochen haben) Selbstverständlich verfügt das Hotel aber auch über eine normale Speisekarte, als auch über weitere Angebote, welche für den interessierten Leser auf der Homepage ersichtlich sind. Hier wird es verstanden, dem Gast einen schönen Abend zu bereiten, wir waren jeden Abend fast zwei Stunden beim Abendessen und haben es wirklich genossen. Das gesamte Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit, der Service der Mitarbeiterinnen beim Abendessen war äusserst professionell, gleichzeitig aber auch sehr herzliche und freundlich, die Geschäftsführung darf stolz auf dieses Personal sein, hier ist es gelungen alles zu vereinigen was dem Gast einen ausgezeichneten Aufenthalt ermöglicht. Das Hotel bietet auch einige (kostenpflichtige) Zusatzangebote an, Seekajaks und Fahrräder was auch Ausflüge in die nähere Umgebung (z.B. nach Fanö) ermöglicht. Es sind ausreichend Parkplätze vorhanden, daher schauen im Prinzip alle Hotelzimmer auf die geparkten Autos. Bis auf die kleinen Abstriche am Zimmer können wir das Hotel für einen Aufenthalt aus unserer Sicht uneingeschränkt empfehlen, es ist wirklich ein Erlebnis in einem solchen Hotel Gast zu sein.
