Country motels, especially ones in towns that are without major tourist attractions, seem to fit a mould - built in the ‘60’s or early ‘70’s, spacious rooms and exposed brick walls. The Settlement motel is no exception. It is on the northern outskirts of Deny, across the river, but a 1km, 2 minute , drive to the centre. The staff were very helpful when we arrived right on dark (after 8pm) and very keen to find somewhere still open and serving dinner. We were offered fresh milk for tea. The room was very clean, apart from the carpet which, although clearly vacuumed, could have done with a steam clean as it was quite stained. Although our dog was not with us, and we were not in a designated dog friendly room, I was interested to note that dogs were welcome. Motels that allow dogs are becoming increasingly rare. The room was well set back from the highway and very quiet. We would stay here again.
