The hotel is very nice and comfortable, just for that I’ll rate it at 5*. But what impressed me the most is how nice and helpful the people and owners are. That makes a world of a difference. I totally recommend The Abbey Hotel. Thank you Kamila Oliveira for your help.

This hotel was really fantastic, the attention to detail on all aspects was great to find and was better than hotels twice as expensive. The staff were very helpful and friendly and made our stay feel special. Again our room was wonderful with lots of little touches that made it special . The breakfast was great, freshly cooked with a good choice, again the staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. We would definitely stay again, Well done all at Abbey Hotel.

Due to a double booking of the Junior Suite, we were upgraded to a pretty 2 bedroom cottage off the main courtyard. It was lovely, historic and full of character. The master bedroom was huge and extended the entire width of the property. Original beams were exposed and it had an iron fireplace. Bed was super comfy with clean white linen bedding. Kitchen was clean, spacious and had loads of equipment. Cooked breakfast in the hotel was tasty and the waitress was excellent - friendly and efficient. The proprietor gave us a useful map of Bury city centre - very helpful. Also there's a pretty garden with outdoor seating. The Hotel is about a 10 minute walk into Bury. It is a really interesting city with its ancient Cathedral, gorgeous Abbey Gardens (a must see!), St Mary's Church, lots of shops and wonderful fascinating historic buildings. The market (Weds) was brilliant with its buzzy a**osphere. An interesting and memorable visit to this amazing city. We loved it.

It was a great place to stay until enjoy one evening. The only downfall is that the parking is terrible excluding that highly recommend the parking so bad, but you need to drive across the road to get in as it’s very difficult to turn into the parking area. It’s also very difficult to leave the parking area as well due to the amount of cars that there

What a fascinating, enjoyable and interesting weekend stay. What a pleasant group of staff (and guests), and perfectly balanced hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms, a relaxing and totally delicious, well presented and beautifully served breakfast. In an historic building just a few minutes walk from a delightful town centre. Loved it all.

This is a slightly quirky but thoroughly delightful hotel within easy walking distance of the town. We stayed for 3 nights in a junior suite and had a really pleasant stay. Room was very comfortable with plenty of room to relax in comfortable chairs. Clearly a lot of work has gone into making an old beamed building suitable for modern living. Power points everywhere, extremely efficient heating, lovely hot water and a comfortable bed. Cooked breakfast was really good. Very obvious food was cooked to order and not taken from a hot plate . As good a hotel breakfast as we have had anywhere. Staff could not have been more friendly. Bury St Edmunds is a really nice town and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

Quirky and comfortable hotel . Shame that they don’t do food in the evening but breakfast was excellent all cooked to order and the server was lovely offering refills and checking that the food was to your liking . Car park entrance is a bit tight but ample parking spaces . Nice friendly a**osphere I was offered a choice of rooms. There is a comfy sitting area and also a kitchen for guests use .

We recently stayed at the Abbey Hotel for two nights and chose the Merchant’s House due to it having more room with two bedrooms and a kitchen and living area. The house was perfect. Beautifully clean and well furnished with super kitchen facilities and essential items provided. There are window blinds and thick curtains which blocked out early morning light. The two bathrooms were very clean and bright with powerful showers and lovely toiletries. The hotel is well positioned about a 15 minute easy walk to the town. It is in a fairly busy road but we were not at all bothered by any road noise due to the efficient windows. The main hotel was a fascinating building again very clean and well furnished. There is a public lounge and lots of books and games to borrow. Although we didn’t need to use it I was impressed to see a guest kitchen in the main hotel building with a dining room to use if you wanted to ‘eat in’. Also a well equipped laundry room. The gentleman who I assume was the owner was very welcoming without being overbearing and offered us tea and coffee while we looked round. Breakfast was delicious with a huge range of dishes on offer. All served by a very friendly lady who’s name I didn’t get but she was the only staff member in the dining room. My mother asked if she could have fried bread which was not on the menu but was happily provided and I’m told it was excellent. Nothing seemed too much trouble at this hotel it was faultless and I’m so pleased I chose it. Thanks for a perfect stay.
