With Bolzano picked simply as a midway stop for our drive from Germany to Tuscany, we weren't expecting too much of the town but this hotel looked promising. We were pleased that BOTH exceeded our expectations. The city is vibrant and picturesque to where we wish we had stayed a few days instead of just a day and a half. As for Hotel Hortenberg, it was delightful and had an impressive feel. Our room (101) was clean, spacious, quiet, tastefully decorated, and with a generously sized bathroom. We found the staff to be welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay. The breakfast bar had something for everyone, with all selections fresh and well supplied. The garden and pool area were a pleasant oasis where barely a noise was to be heard from outside the property walls. The view up the mountain towering over the hotel and neighborhood was impressive. We hope to return to this area one day and to choose this hotel again.

My stay at Castel Hortenberg was an absolute delight. The Renaissance castle, meticulously restored, offered the epitome of luxury in the heart of Bolzano. The comfortable rooms, exceptional service, and exquisite dining options exceeded expectations. The spa area provided a serene escape, making the overall experience truly stunning. Highly recommended for a luxurious stay at the gateway to the Dolomites.

Exquisite! My family of four was delightfully surprised at the wonderful beauty and service and this amazing property. It started with a long, beautifully tree shaded gated driveway that opened at the end to reveal a beautiful small castle...and things only got better. Greeted by an extremely welcoming Thomaso (sorry about spelling) and shown a beautifully crafted modern and perfectly appointed room that felt like a suite. Welcome cookies and water. An offer for a welcome drink at reception. A beautiful pool area. An amazing breakfast assortment. The whole experience, even its onsite parking and proximity to walk to town. A+ Don't book any other place in Bolzano... Castel Hortenberg is PERFECTION...

Beautiful hotel and warm and friendly staff. Location is very central so a great base to explore the wonderful Bolzano. Our suite was beautiful although the living room could so with much better lighting given the dark wood finishings which meant that at night it was impossible to navigate properly. Also, the hotel could do with a proper bar area rather than the “effort” in the corridor that is there currently. But these are small point in what was a great stay.

Castel Hortenberg far exceeded our expectations. From the very friendly and extra accommodating staff, delicious food and beautiful setting to the charm of Bolzano, to list but a few things. If you want a great hotel experience, I would definitely recommend. Castel Hortenberg is a gem tucked neatly down a residential street, very serene and quiet but close to the town centre and many attractions.

Gorgeous hotel with spacious and comfortable room. Delicious breakfast. Staff was incredibly helpful, especially Sabrina who booked some excellent restaurants for us, and Tommaso who went out of his way to help with a medical situation. Only comments for improvement would be the pool jacuzzi, which were not warm enough to enjoy comfortably on a cold night. Otherwise, excellent experience!

We couldn’t have asked for more! A beautiful old building with the most beautiful bedroom we have ever been in, the kind of bed room that you aspire to have in your home. The staff were unbelievably helpful and the breakfast was outstanding. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to try the restaurant for dinner because the menu wasn’t particularly nut allergy friendly (a real shame because it looked beautiful) but with hindsight I feel like the chefs would have sorted this out (we booked all our dinner in advance of arrival). The pool was lovely and warm and every time we swam we were the only ones using it. The spa was more popular but never crowded. We also loved Bolzano/Bolzen as a city and are thinking of coming back!

We absolutely loved this hotel!! The people, the atmosphere, the breakfast all was amazing!!! Perfect location walking distance to Otzi, massive rooms, friendly and knowledgeable staff, everything was top notch!! Would definitely stay here again.

We arrived on an unseasonably warm Sunday afternoon in the secluded yet centrally located castle in Bozen. A new hotel that the city desperately needed and with its 24 rooms it is very tranquil. The design is clean, neat, yet luxurious with fine details integrated throughout. The top floor loft room (402) was carefully thought out; open living space, huge bed, his/her vanity, open shower, 2 infrared chairs, Aqua di Parma toiletries and immaculately cleaned we had a very comfortable stay. Floor cooling helped the room stay cool on a scorching afternoon as well as a dip in the luxurious outdoor pool was fantastic. Breakfast was an international affair with a buffet and a la carte options. Electric car charging ports must be reserved, electric bikes could be rented and the gym on the ground floor was extremely functional. Highly recommended for a tranquil stay in the heart of the city.
